It's the bough we break to blow away. [Backdated to 4/2/16]

In spite of their conversations wanting to plan a weekend getaway for themselves, Marius jumps at the chance to get out of the city with Rat following the Founder's Day celebrations. Marius calls Courfeyrac to arrange for the care of their cats and mice; they hail a taxi, winding up at a hotel in the countryside: a quaint, luxurious establishment with an artistically designed pool arranged to blend in with the forest around the hotel, a charming restaurant with a lilac theme, and a cellar where they craft their own beer.

Marius finds them a room with an obscenely-sized bed and a balcony overlooking both the pool and the nature beyond. The atmosphere proves even more alluring with the mixed fragrances of newly blossoming flowers, the scent of wisteria particularly strong.

This vacation is entirely indulgent; they make their way to their room without even stopping in the restaurant. They barely drop their bags on the floor before they're falling into bed together, clothes and limbs tangling together in knots as they give into their passion. They pause only once to order room service.

Eventually, Marius falls asleep, though he doesn't remember the exact moment he does so. The next time he opens his eyes, the sun is filtering through the window, casting the room in a golden light. He stretches, his naked body shifting against the sheets. Marius' eyes open more fully and he glances down at his chest, which tightens as his gaze saunters down the rest of his body.

"Merde!" He swears in a soft voice as he flails and falls off the bed, sheets partly still entwined around him.

"Go out dancing?" Marius asks as they move, voice swaying in time with his meandering breath at Rat's roaming hands. He likes the idea of Rat showing him off; he likes the idea of going out and having people know that the both of them belong to one another. "Or go out to a show?" Both options charm him with their whimsy natures.

His body lights up at each touch as he settles back against his lover, savoring his hands and the way his breasts press into his back. He flushes deeper, letting out a stuttering breath that turns into a gasping moan when Rat's hands close around his breasts. His back arches as he presses himself further into his lover's hands, craving more of his touch.

"Occupied?" He manages before Rat starts nuzzling his neck. He gasps and sighs, head tipping back into each nuzzle. "Rat, fuck!" He groans as teeth scrape against bare skin. His body jolts as whimpers, gasps, and moans fall from his lips; one of his hands twists into the sheets for purchase as the other reaches back, seeking out any and all bare skin of Rat's he can find.

"Occupied. Tied down. Played wi–" Rat pauses in his teasing when Marius jumps, squirms in the bed as if touched with a live wire. One little nibble and Marius is suddenly flailing, making a terribly obscene noise, and Rat finds himself blushing. It's only made worse when Marius starts to touch him too.

So far, Rat's held out with his self-control, only to realize that his new body is sensitive. The sound of Marius, the way his fingers roam over Rat's skin, all of it leaves trails and sends heat through him. Instead of a stiff prick, he feels a tight sense of need concentrating that undermines much of his control and leaves him biting his lip.

Then Marius accidentally brushes a thumb over one of his nipples and Rat lets out an equally accidental shout. His eyes go wide as he realizes how sensitive this new body is.

Marius shudders more with each teasing word that falls from between Rat's lips. Every little touch and tease seems amplified in this body; his toes curl with each new sensation that jolts throughout his body like lightning.

And, God, but touching Rat only further ignites the heat running rampant through him. He can feel the heat radiating from his lover's skin; he finds himself addicted to the softness of it, even as his own hand trembles. Need and wanting fills the air around them like cigarette smoke, thick and hazy; it adds to the tightness in his chest and belly, and he finds that he can't contain the multitudes of gasps and moans falling from his parted mouth.

Marius' eyes widen when Rat shouts like that; he leans further back against his lover to press their skin closer together, his hand roaming again over that same spot on his nipple, needing to hear Rat make that noise again.

He tilts his head to meet Rat for a kiss, bringing his other hand from the sheets to entangle in Rat's short hair. He spills sweet nothings in French in between gasps and their lips parting and moving together, unable to help himself.

Marius is far from utterly submissive but it's still a surprise to see him take such obvious initiative, to deliberately try to make Rat shout again. The touch is electric across his skin in a way that leaves Rat grasping at the sheets, biting his lip in a way that fails to completely suppress a high, desperate noise. Damn this body, he thinks, his legs closing and rubbing together.

Only a few touches and already he needs, aches for it. There's a dull throb between his legs that threatens to explode outward if left unattended or even if it is. His hips raise, thrusting blindly forward against Marius' thigh. The pressure alleviates some of the need but only jus.

"Fuck," he says (whines). "Marius–" Rat doesn't know what to say next, whether it's 'more' or 'stop.' He needs and he can't even be sure what, except for Marius.

Marius turns so that he faces Rat, pressing their bodies as close together as possible. His hands wander with greater insistence, seeking out every tender spot that causes Rat to make noises like that shout. Marius' own need makes him dizzy, but to see that need mirrored in his lover so blatantly sends the rest of the world spinning madly around them.

He gasps as he kisses Rat with greater urgency; he takes his tongue into his mouth and sucks. His hands smooth circles around his lover's breasts. He moves his thigh further between Rat's legs, increasing the pressure and moaning at the friction that radiates throughout their slick bodies.

"Yes?" He breathes more than asks, pulling back to look at Rat with eyes blown wide. "What - " He pauses, tries to collect his breath, and fails. "What do you need me to do?"

He's used to being the one with restraint, with a cool demeanor as he watches Marius cave and come undone, taking his pleasure. Now, his body shocks, his breath catches around involuntary noises. Marius is the one who's exerting that control, watching Rat shake quickly apart.

Sensitized, aching for more, he grinds against Marius' thigh, grabs his hand to pin it against his breasts. "Marius...Please," he says, voice tight. "Every part of me." It's overwhelming, impossible.

"I need you."

"Okay," Marius exhales in a haze, nodding; it's the only complete word he's capable of uttering at the moment, watching in awe as Rat quivers and grinds against his thigh. It's dizzying, watching his lover come undone like this.

He lets out a low moan as Rat pushes his hand against his breasts. In the same breath, Marius increases the pressure of his hand, smoothing all around the mounds of flesh and letting his fingers linger on Rat's nipples, the place where he seems most sensitive.

He moves his lips from Rat's to kiss down the length of his body, nuzzling against and sucking on all the skin he can reach; he breathes little gasps and moans of his own against his lover. Mostly, he's guessing his way throughout this endeavor; he feels sloppy and inexperienced, but Rat seems to like what he's doing, so he keeps going.

Finally, he reaches down between Rat's legs, where he knows he aches the most because it's where he aches, too. He briefly glances up at Rat, to make sure that he's not doing anything unwanted or untoward, before leaning back in, pressing his mouth to that searing heat, and kissing with all the fervor as though he needs it to breathe.

Later, when he tries to dissect how completely and quickly that Marius undoes him, Rat will wonder if it's the novelty of a new body or the way he naturally would be, had he been born in this shape.

In the moment, though, all he can think is that he's hyper aware of the cool air from the hotel vents, of the contrast it makes to the heat that he produces and draws from Marius. Every kiss, every bite and touch, draws noises out of him. Ordinarily, they'd be wonderful, pleasurable. Now they're a perfect torture, especially when Marius continues to exploit his breasts.

And then...

"Holy shit," It comes out high pitched, voice caught, and Rat trembles as his legs fall open for Marius to manipulate as he likes.

Marius follows each noise Rat makes; each tremor ringing throughout his skin. He follows them like bread crumbs, picking at them and proceeding as he guesses where they lead. He lets his movements continue to stoke the building heat between them, sharp and fervent in contrast with the cool, morning air of their hotel room.

The high pitched exclamation from Rat makes Marius shudder in response; his fingers twitch where they trace across Rat's skin. He groans as Rat's legs fall open and he moves further within them.

He sucks and he laps and he tastes; he uses his tongue to go deeper, moaning all the while. He moves one hand down from Rat's breasts to skim across his belly and down to his thigh, tracing patterns with an increased sense of urgency. His rubs his own thighs together and against the sheets to keep his own aching at bay.

Rat doesn't whimper often, nor whine, nor turn to hide his face in a pillow, but Marius drags all of this out of him and more. Already, embarrassingly quick, he can feel that tightness building. He's never come like this before but he knows, instantly, what's happening.

"Marius..." He says it around clenched teeth, trying not to lose complete control. "Shit, Marius. Touch me."

Without thinking of anything beyond how much he needs it, how much it will topple him over in moments, Rat grabs Marius' wrist with the same urgency as when he touched his breast. Now he holds it against the seam of his body, wordlessly begging.

Marius is torn between wanting to watch Rat come undone like this and wanting to focus completely on bringing him as much pleasure as possible so that he comes undone even further. He can feel each whimper and whine reverberate throughout his skin; he can hear the way Rat tosses his head against the pillow.

He fights not to smile where his mouth is pressed between Rat's legs at the way his lover says his name around clenched teeth; he fails. He feels and tastes the building tension within Rat.

So at his request, Marius listens immediately. He moves his mouth to start licking and sucking at Rat's inner thigh as he moves his fingers slowly but surely into Rat, twisting and pressing in ways he hopes will push him over the edge.

"Fuck!" Rat arches off the bed and grabs the back of Marius' head, fingers knotting in his hair. When Marius bites him, when his fingers quirk just slightly up, Rat feels it. The pressure peaks, shudders through him, and he's panting and thrusting his hips forward instinctively.

It feels as though an age has past when Rat falls back into the mattress, even though it can't have been more than a minute. His body shudders with aftershocks, of a truly overwhelming sensation, and he stares at Marius, eyes wide.

"That..." He doesn't have a word for it, not really.

Marius groans at the way Rat pulls at his hair; the sudden tug in his belly echoes the way he so keenly feels his lovers entwined fingers in between the strands. He keeps kissing and sucking and lapping at Rat's skin, keeps his fingers twisting and turning as Rat arches his back and hips into it.

He eases Rat through his pleasure as he comes down, watching him as he falls back on the mattress. He licks his lips as he pulls away; he licks each individual finger clean as he tries desperately to ignore the way his own body throbs with aching need. But, God, the way Rat looks, laying against the mattress and looking at him like that...

"Are you okay?" Marius manages to ask, moving up Rat's body to kiss him, gently, lovingly. He brings a hand to stroke through his lover's short hair.

"Yes. God, yes." He's a little dazed, hypnotized by the way Marius sucks on his own fingers, reminding him of where they've just been. It sends another shiver through him and Rat stares at Marius. "Where did you learn that?"

It's something he's done a few times, despite his preference for male lovers. It's something he can see Marius needs in the flush of his face and the tension in his body. As Marius slides up along his body, Rat's hand travels down. He moves slowly, giving Marius the space to pull away if he likes, before cupping the soft swell of flesh between his legs.

Slow and exploratory still, Rat adds gentle pressure and slips his thumb inward, searching out his center of pleasure.

"I guessed," Marius admits, chewing on his lip as he meets Rat's mesmerizing gaze and shivers. He's never had this sort of intimate experience before, Rat being his first and only lover. For once, he'd heeded Courfeyrac's advice of 'learning through experience,' letting such philosophy guide him in pleasing Rat.

The desire he's attempted to keep at bay uncoils, serpentine, through each shiver that runs through his skin and each breath that catches in his throat. The hand stroking through Rat's hair tenses; his chest heaves. Rat's hand presses against his skin like fire, scorching and fierce. Marius presses into the touch as much as he can, whimpers and groans falling steadily from his lips. Rat's touch strikes Marius electric.

"Fuck, Rat," he nearly shouts, neck arching and head falling back as his lover reaches the soft skin in between his legs. His hips snap forward nearly of their own accord, desperately seeking more of that touch. "Please, more, please."

Rat nods, doesn't tease or play games, not when Marius is looking at him with eyes blown wide as his body arches up to him. He savors Marius with kisses that trail from mouth to neck and then down to breasts, where he takes a nipple in his teeth and bites just sharply enough to get Marius' attention. Then he soothes his tongue over the bite and moves on to the other, playing at it with the tip of his tongue.

With his hand, Rat slides two fingers easily into Marius, thumb still extended to exploit his new clitoris. Judging by the way Marius thrashes toward him, he thinks it's working. It's an intoxicating sight, as strange and fascinating as the first time they had sex. Yes, they know one another's minds but now they have bodies to explore anew.

"How much more?"

Marius gasps and whines, arching his neck further to better catch each kiss Rat bestows upon him. He clings, one hand entangled with Rat's short hair and the other clutching at the back of his neck, fingers curling and digging in desperation.

"Oh. Oh God. Fuck," he lets out a high-pitched shout, nearly keens, as Rat bites down on his breast. His body undulates sharply; the arch of his back curves with such precision and his chest tightens so abruptly, Marius nearly loses his breath. He starts moaning in a mixture of French and English as heat courses through him at the attention to his breasts. Heat that rushes to join the fire building between his legs as Rat strokes him.

Marius cants his hips forward as his legs fall open, seeking more of that dizzying sensation from Rat's touch. His thumb keeps circling a place inside of him that sends sparks flying throughout the rest of his body; Marius whimpers and moans, knowing he won't last much longer. "Just," he gasps out, all but incapable of speaking in complete sentences. "One more. Please. So close."

Marius writhes beneath him and Rat doesn't dare stop. He relishes the line of pleasure and pain that Marius straddles, his nails a little too tight, making marks in his skin. The sharpness of it feels so good and Rat's amazed to find his arousal flaring up again. He's known, of course, that this body can do that but to know it and to feel it are two entirely different things. Moaning, he continues to scatter love bites over Marius.

Shifting his fingers, Rat adds a third, slowing his movement only a little as he curves them upward, teases at every sensitive place he's ever found on a woman.

Quickly, spurred on by Marius' desperation, Rat hurries down his body, all strawberries-and-cream luscious and pale, with wet kisses. He slides his thumb away only to replace it with a broad, flat stroke of his tongue.

Each sensation spurred on by Rat pressed against him and within him makes Marius shiver; makes him gasp for breath and renders him that much more affected by the pleasure shooting through him like lightning. He hardly knows the nonsensical mixture of French and English slipping from his mouth; he's so caught between how this new body feels every flicker of a touch and kiss and the way Rat sounds as he marks up his body. Marius feels his toes curl as his lover's moans echo throughout his body.

Even as wound up as he is, a creeping awareness of his own nearness to the edge settles in; he feels it building in his belly and in the throbbing between his legs. Marius' whimpers and moans grow more strained and his shivering grows more distinct. His hips jerk forward haphazardly as Rat finds even the smallest places that steal his breath and his coherence.

"God, Rat," he manages as his lover all but races down his body, bringing both hands to grasp desperately at his hair.

And then he feels Rat's tongue and, abruptly, his entire body arches, nearly off the bed, as he breaks, head falling back almost violently against the pillow. Trembling even harder, Marius keens, tugging at Rat's hair as his pleasure takes him. Incoherent mumblings and breathless curses fall from his lips as he tries to focus to keep his legs from accidentally kicking Rat in the face. Eternity, but in all likelihood, a minute, passes before he regains any sense of, well, sense.

"Oh my God," he breathes out, voice hollow as the aftershocks run through him.

Rat gasps against Marius, feeling the clench of him around his fingers. It pulses in time with the way that Marius shouts and flails and Rat's body aches with sympathetic need. Gently, he lightens up on the motions of his tongue before lifting off entirely and kissing the soft curving mound above it and then kissing his thigh, soft, loving kisses to help Marius fall back into himself.

When Marius finally speaks, Rat slowly withdraws his fingers and locks eyes with Marius and licks his fingers clean with every ounce of lasciviousness he can muster. Once his hand is clean, he crawls over Marius, a knee between his legs while Rat tries to ignore his own need for just a moment in favor of kissing him.

"You still pull my hair the same way when you come," he teases against the kiss.

Marius sighs, trying to catch his breath in the aftermath. He can't stop shivering, even as Rat gentles his touches and kisses; the afterglow proves just as intoxicating as the act itself, and Marius lets it wash over him as though he were lounging in a hot bath.

He bites down on his lip at the sight of Rat licking his fingers clean, but the look in his eyes only spurs on the helpless whimper anyway. His eyes glaze over and the world spins as Rat crawls up his body, knee between his legs. He sighs and trembles into that kiss, wrapping his arms around his lover to hold him closer.

Marius smiles, giggles a bit at the teasing. "I suppose some things never change," he muses, nuzzling against Rat.

"I'm glad that didn't," he admits, smiling a little wickedly. Kissing Marius again, Rat enjoys the brush of their bodies, both of them pale and slender and about the same height. Their breasts brush together and he can't help noticing the softness and warmth of his body. The transformation has been a gentle one, softening the harsh angles of them both.

Curious, he turns on his side and pulls Marius to roll over with him. From that angle, they can remain close and he can take the time to actually see what's changed. Looking down, he can still note the bullet holes on his shoulders, the faint whorl on his side. The knee that's between Marius' legs will likely show another scar.

Curious.

Marius giggles and his cheeks flush at the wicked amusement in Rat's face. He grins into the kiss, enjoying the warmth of it and the warmth of their bodies pressed close together. He lets out a sigh, savoring the new sensations these bodies stir.

He rolls easily as Rat turns them onto their sides, snuggling further against him. The morning light weaves bright patterns against both of their bodies; Marius finds his eyes especially drawn to the patterns he finds on Rat's body, and the way they highlight the scars that remain the same.

"You've still got your scars," he says reverently, tracing near one of the bullet holes on his shoulder.

"Magic can only do so much, apparently," Rat says, more thoughtfully than bothered by it. "When the city turned me into a child, the injuries on my back were still fresh." The transformation back into himself had gone back to the old formation of scars, hadn't taken into account a week of easy safety and medical care that might have reduced them if he'd grown naturally.

It was a cloth laid over a statue. The shape stayed the same.

"Would you prefer me without them?"

"Hmm," Marius agrees, still tracing around the bullet hole in Rat's shoulder. "Magic does have its limits." Not that he minds; Rat's scars are as much a part of him as his wit and passion for the stage. Though he might wish Rat didn't have the experiences that led to those scars, he knows that they are essential threads in the fabric of the man he loves.

"No, I wouldn't," he tells him, leaning in to press his lips gently near to where he still traces his lover's skin with his finger. "They're a part of you."

Idly, Marius wonders if he still has his own bullet wound from the barricades.
