Once Eleanor begins eating her food, Marius finally gives into his baser urges and begins devouring the hamburger he'd been drooling over ever since his friend passed him his bag of food. He eats loudly and messily, letting crumbs and bits of meat splatter against the back of the cab. He'd forgotten, in his adult years, the sheer desperation of a child's hunger.
