Marius tries to think of something to say; instinctively, he wants to say he's sorry, both that Rat had to live it through once and then endure such pain by being reverted to such a state again. But even in his own mind, it sounds inadequate, and too much like pity, which he knows the other man wouldn't appreciate.

He follows Rat towards his building for a moment in silence; before they reach said building, he reaches for Rat's hand and squeezes. It's an odd feeling, to make such a gesture in such a small form. But it's all he can think to offer for comfort at the moment.

"That's awful," is all he says as he continues to follow Rat.
